Bart and I spent the past couple of years living and working on the island of Moloka'i, in Hawaii.  Together, we managed a 30 acre certified organic and biodynamic farm on Pu'u O Hoku Ranch--a 14,000 acre property on the remote east end of Moloka'i. 

At the end of a winding, cliff hugging road through some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain you've ever seen, we grew A LOT of beautiful, delicious and healthy produce.  We made many friends, spent our time immersed in either red dirt or the warm Pacific and found our sweet pup, Koa.

In addition to a diverse vegetable operation (think carrots, lettuce, kale, chard, asian greens, sweet potatoes, eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, beets, onions etc) , our management responsibilities included the care of 4 acres of orchards (bananas, avocadoes, citrus, lychee, longon, coffee, etc) and 4 acres of awa (kava)-a culturally significant and traditional social drink in the South Pacific.  We built a physical farm, and the business that goes along with it. 

We miss Hawaii.  Every now and then the wind, sun and a mist of rain come together in such a way that I can almost feel the trade winds and the Pacific...
